The goal of “Integral Psychology” is to honor and embrace every legitimate aspect of human consciousness. Drawing from hundreds of sources – East and West, ancient and modern – Wilber has created a psychological model that encompasses the entire spectrum of human development. Wilber is one of the most widely read and influential American philosophers of our time and is credited with creating a genuine world philosophy with important practical applications in nearly every field of study, including I/O Psychology About the Speakers: Cindy Wigglesworth. As Founder and Owner of Conscious Pursuits, Inc. Cindy Wigglesworth bridges a solid business background with her passionate beliefs about the importance of integrating our spiritual and work lives. Her prior work experience includes 20+ years in HR management for ExxonMobil Corporation, performing in all the traditional areas of HR. Key areas were organizational design, effectiveness and workforce / culture issues, executive coaching and performance improvement, training development and delivery and global best practices. Her most recent major consulting project was with The Methodist Hospital, Her work with its VP of Spiritual Care and Values Integration resulted in implementation of a network-wide values integration program designed to create a "spiritual environment of caring" for Methodist's employees. Cindy
has gained a reputation as an expert in the field of "spirit at
work" and speaks regularly on the subject. She co-authored (as Cynthia
S. Graves) "Grown-Up Children Who Won't Grow Up." Cindy holds dual
BA in English and Education and a MA in Political Science from Duke
University. David

Speaker: Dr. Camille Peres

If anyone arrives after 6 PM, he/she should use the intercom at the door and state that he/she is there for the HAIOP meeting at Birkman International. Dr. S. Camille Peres is a Cognitive Psychologist who does research on the Human-Machine Interface—particularly Human Computer Interaction. She has three active lines of research: how software users transition from novices to experts, investigating and designing guidelines for effective Auditory Displays; and using new technologies for teaching statistics. Much of Dr. Peres’ research is done in collaboration with faculty from UHCL and Rice, NASA’s Human Factors group, ExxonMobil, and Schlumberger. Her work includes both a scientific component focused on developing new knowledge in Human Factors and an applied component focused on improving the efficiency and safety of Human-Machine Interfaces. Dr. Peres is active in the local and national Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). She has served as president of the Houston HFES chapter and is currently the President-Elect. She also sits on the Professional Standards Committee and Salary Survey Committee of the National organization. Dr. Peres has publications in the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, Encyclopedia of Human-Computer Interaction, and the proceedings of the International Conference on Auditory Displays and HFES. Dr. Peres earned her Ph.D. from Rice University in 2005. Monday, January 26th, 2009 Title: The Long Voyage to Mars: Can the Science of Team Performance Contribute?

He also holds an appointment as Program Director for Human Systems Integration Research Department at UCF’s Institute for Simulation & Training. Previously, he was a Senior Research Psychologist and Head of the Training Technology Development Branch of NAVAIR-Orlando for 15 years. His expertise includes helping organizations on how to foster teamwork, design and implement team training strategies; facilitate training effectiveness, among many others. He is currently working on designing tools, instructional strategies and techniques to minimize human errors in aviation, law enforcement and medical environments. He is past Editor of Human Factors journal and current Associated Editor for the Journal of Applied Psychology. Dr. Salas has held numerous positions in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) during the past 15 years. He is also very active with Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). About the Sponsors: H-HFES: The

Speakers: Drs. Gloria Pereira and Lauren Salomon
Location: Sewall Hall, Rice University, Room 301 Time: Social Hour - 5:15-6:00 pm; Speaker - 6:00-7:00 pm Description: Drs. Gloria Pereira and Lauren Salomon will present their process for developing and validating an assessment tool for four job groups at Texas Youth Commission. This process can be used to develop personality, biographical, and situational judgment items for most other jobs as well. They will also discuss applicant reactions to the different types of items used, and the impact these reactions had on test outcomes. Implications for selection will be discussed. M. Pereira is an Assistant Professor at the University of
Houston Clear Lake and teaches in the Master’s level
Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. In addition, she consults in
the areas of competency modeling, job analysis, employee selection, test
validation, managerial assessment, employee surveys, and interview
development and training. Her work is
focused on improving the performance of organizations through assessment,
selection and development of people. She has over 15 years of experience as an
internal and an external consultant, and has worked abroad as well as in the Prior
